History:
There has been a funeral home in Bolivar since the middle
1800's
The
first funeral home was owned by the Helwick Family and was
also a casket and furniture manufacturing company
In
the early 1900's the funeral business, along with the casket
& furniture store was sold to the Helwick's son-in-law
Sam Shew and the funeral home became known as the Shew Funeral
Home.
In
the 30's Kermit Lebold attended Mortuary School in Cleveland
and received his Funeral Director and Embalmers License.
After
WWII Kermit Lebold started to work for Sam Shew in the funeral
business and in 1947 purchased part of the business and
later after Sam's death purchased the entire funeral home.
The name was changed shortly after to the Lebold Funeral
Home.
